A white woman has been filmed calling police on a black man for “breaking into” his own car.
Corvontae Davis claims he was in the process of using a parking meter in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, when the unidentified woman approached him.
Sharing the video on his personal Facebook profile, he wrote:
So, apparently now black people can't enter their own vehicles.
Davis claimed that he had difficulty opening his 2016 Ford Mustang, but after a brief struggle he entered. Though rather than ask what was wrong, the woman immediately called the police.
I was getting ready to put money in a meter or whatever, and she has nothing else better to do and asked me if I was breaking into my car.
He told the Milwaukee Journalthat the whole incident was “mind boggling” and “very embarrassing".
After deciding to wait until the police arrived, Davis said he was quickly able to establish he was the owner of the car and the police apologised to him for the misunderstanding.
This incident is one of many that, thanks to social media, is making the news. In the last few months alone indy100 has reported on a white woman calling the police on black family having a BBQ and another calling the police on 12 year-old African-American boy for mowing their lawn.
