The holy war is here.
So declared Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly on his show Talking Points Memo in reaction to Isis murdering 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians.
As well as criticising Obama's reaction to the terror group, O'Reilly said David Cameron lacked the “power” to take on Isis.
"The utter brutality that faces this country and the world today has to be confronted," O'Reilly said. "And somebody has to lead that effort. It certainly won't be the Chinese leader or Putin or Merkel or David Cameron in Great Britain. The first three don't have the will, Cameron doesn't have the power.
"There is only one leader with the cache to lead the fight -- that reluctant warrior, Barack Obama. This is now a so-called holy war between radical jihadists and everybody else including peaceful Muslims," he concluded.
So far the reaction has been muted, with several commentators pointing out that in declaring "holy war" against Isis militants, O'Reilly is actually endorsing the terror group's narrative. As Vox point out: "Isis has shown every indication of wanting to suck the United States into a prolonged ground war; O'Reilly seems to be arguing that we should give them their wish." Still, at least O'Reilly didn't go the full Jeanine Pirro.
