A woman was handcuffed at a beach in USA for wearing a bikini thong and it has left many people confused about whether or not her outfit was illegal or not.

A well known Acrobat performer, Sam Panda, who is originally from Pittsburgh, was handcuffed at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for wearing a thong, which officers said violated local ordinances.

According to Fox News 8, Panda was asked to leave the beach because she was wearing a thong bikini bottom, which is said to be qualified as indecent exposure.

Panda later called the person who complained to the cops “some Karen.”

In footage taken at the scene, officers could be seen handcuffing the aerial performer, even though she was busy her protesting, “I literally wear this to the beach every day.”

After making it clear that Panda was being detained, a man filming the incident could be heard questioning the cops as to why exactly it was illegal to wear a bikini at the beach.

One officer then goes on to read out some legislation to Panda, which states “it shall be unlawful for any person to appear in the nude on any public beach, public waters or any public property in the view of the public”.

The man behind the camera could be heard asserting that “an anus and a vagina are nudity, a thong is not nudity”.

Although it may sound very outdated, according to the Myrtle Beach municipal code, exposing your bum cheeks in a public place is in fact unlawful:

It shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally appear in any public place in such a state of dress or undress so as to expose to the view of others the human male or female genitals, pubic area, pubic hair, buttocks, anus, vulva or any portion of the female breast at or below the areola thereof.

According to Fox News, thongs have been prohibited at the beach “for years and officers typically give a warning for the first offense.”

Panda, who performs acrobatics above the ground from a height on a tightrope or trapezes, made headlines after a near-fatal fall on October 26, 2017 at Finn’s Beach Club Canggu in Bali

The rig she was on malfunctioned and Panda broke her neck and damaged her spine in front of a live audience, hitting the concrete stage head first.
