On Friday former president Barack Obama released his now annual rundown of all his favourite films, music and books.

In a Facebook post, Obama named a diverse range of movies ranging from Marvel blockbusters like Black Panther to art house favourites like Roma and Shoplifters.

In music, he named amongst things Jay-Z and Beyonce's 'The Carters' collaboration and the chilled out Americana of Kurt Vile.

Meanwhile, in books, he named novels, memoirs and information books as some of his favourites of the year but nestled in with these list of titles was a very sweet and affectionate nod to his wife Michelle.

In the post, he wrote:

As 2018 draws to a close, I’m continuing a favourite tradition of mine and sharing my year-end lists.

It gives me a moment to pause and reflect on the year through the books, movies, and music that I found most thought-provoking, inspiring, or just plain loved.

It also gives me a chance to highlight talented authors, artists, and storytellers – some who are household names and others who you may not have heard of before.

Here’s my best of 2018 list - I hope you enjoy reading, watching, and listening.

As he starts to list his favourites, with books coming first, he puts Michelle's book 'Becoming' at the very top, adding:

Becoming by Michelle Obama (obviously my favourite!)

Awww...bless him. In all seriousness, he kinda had to name this as one of his favourite books, didn't he? Can you imagine the trouble if he didn't?

This small nod to his wife didn't go unnoticed on Twitter and people were very touched.

Still, it's possible that Michelle made him put it on his list.
