The Karens have unionized.

A ‘Literal Karen’ rallied up other Karens via Facebook to boycott a coffee shop over its ‘anti-Karen’ sign and coffee cups. TikTok user @therealkarenshub’s posted the sign and coffee cups amongst a montage of angry reviews and messages. Since being posted on Wednesday, has garnered over 829,000 views and 76,000 likes since being posted on Wednesday.

“Last week we had a very unhappy (literal) Karen after seeing our sign out front,” the video states. “She went to an actual Facebook group of women named Karen… and asked them to boycott our shop because she was offended (it’s meant to be a joke, unless the shoe fits).” The sign out front reads “No Karen, you can’t talk to the manager.” The cups in question read ‘Anti-Karen Serum.’

The business, which was confirmed by the account to be Coffee Dose in Los Angeles, California, was subsequently bombarded with one-star reviews and furious emails.

“Why are you disparaging my name?” asked one Karen. “’Bitch is bad enough; now this? It’s misogynistic and also bullying.”

A direct message via the business’s website warned the coffee shop: “A friend noted that you are using the name Karen in a negative way...She is not only going to boycott your shop but ask everyone she knows to do so as well.”

“In my eyes,” a yelp review from Karen A. reads. “you’re profiting at the expense of others.”

Karen D said plainly: “I can speak to the manager if I want.”

One Karen went so far as to compare the use of the Karen meme to the n-word: “You think that using the ‘Karen meme’ isn’t personal? There was a time using the n word was popular too. Was that ever okay?,” the Karen says in a lengthy Facebook comment. “You do realize that women oof this age who have this name have quite the buying power? And the power to start boycotts. We have and we will. We have a huge Facebook group with a large following.”

The shop is known for their snarky marketing, having placed a sign out front that read: “We survived a pandemic, we’ll survive your sh*tty Yelp review.” They also sell lighters that say “Real Hot Girl Sh*t” and glassware with “Thirsty Bitch” printed along the front. Seasonal to-go cups read “Anti-Witch Serum” and “Boo, You Whore.”

An overwhelming majority of the comments seem to agree with the Karens.

“In all fairness, when your name becomes a derogatory term, I’m sure it becomes unpleasant. Psychologically it must do something. Let’s be honest,” one user wrote.

A comment with nearly 1,000 likes reads: “The ‘Karen’ insult turned into a socially acceptable way to silence ANY woman that speaks her mind. That’s why there’s really no male equivalent.”

A few top-liked comments side with the business, with one user agreeing that the women proved themselves be ‘real Karens.’ Some think that the 1-star reviews from Karens are actually good marketing for the business.
