Former White House press secretary Anthony Scaramucci says his recent fallout with president Trump netted him tens of thousands of new Twitter followers.

Trump recently described Scaramucci, who spent 10 fiery days in the role of White House communications director in 2017, as as a "loser" on Twitter. This came after he criticised the president on Fox News.

Scaramucci referenced the exchange while appearing on MSNBCdiscussing Trump's performance at the Republican National Convention.

He said:

When you hit [Trump] with crystal clear clarity and truth, I was on a show the other night and I said you've got 180,000 dead, 200,000 to 300,000 dead by December, he has destroyed the economy, and we've got 31 million people unemployed.

He goes bonkers and starts firing tweets at you. Which, of course, he did, and I get an extra 50,000 Twitter followers. The point I'm making is that this is what we have to do to beat him. You have to fire at him with crystal clear clarity of what is going on.

Scaramucci got the president's attention earlier this month when he said on Fox News that he now supports Trump's political rival Joe Biden.

And Trump responded as he so often does… on Twitter.

Then Scaramucci fired back...

It doesn’t look like this rivalry is going to end any time soon...
