Jeremy Corbyn and Hilary Benn broke up in the wee hours of Sunday and the Labour party is reeling from the fracture, with more walkouts expected.
After Brexit became a reality in the UK with 52 per cent of Britons voting leave, political parties across the board faced immediate issues.
In the wake of David Cameron’s resignation, Conservative party members are scrambling to become relevant enough in the coming months to be contenders in the race to be the next Prime Minister.
The Labour party has its own issues with in-fighting, and in a shocking move shadow foreign secretary Hilary Benn was sacked by Corbyn after he expressed concerns of no confidence. The two have had their issues in the past, notably over Syria.
Benn said:
It has now become clear that there is widespread concern among Labour MPs and in the shadow cabinet about Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership of our party.
Benn’s departure has ignited a fire in the Labour party, and half of the shadow cabinet have expressed their desire to leave, with shadow health secretary Heidi Alexander casting the first stone by resigning. Lucy Powell is rumoured to be next.
Fondly dubbed 'Jexit' the following meme featuring Corbyn's famous resting b-tch face has resurfaced, which sums it up pretty well:
Chat s--t
Get sacked
Is this the beginning of the end of Corbyn's leadership? Stay tuned to the nightmare that has somehow become reality that sums up British politics.
