Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has posted a Twitter thread in which she describes a conversation with a Trump voter who came to her office to share his support for the Democratic congresswoman.
She saw a man and his son leave a note in her office which read: 'Trump supporters for Ocasio-Cortez', and asked him how he reconciled supporting both of them, who have such different views.
What followed was a charming reminder that we can find common ground despite party politics polarising society.
Some cynical Twitter users have questioned whether the interaction actually happened.
Although the majority agreed there is common ground to be found, especially between two political candidates who are fighting against the establishment.
Ocasio-Cortez is one of the sponsors of the Green New Deal, a legislative proposal which would use social and economic reform to address the issues surrounding climate change.
