Getting older isn’t all doom and gloom. You get seats on public transport, and you stop caring what people think of you – but there’s another benefit you might have not anticipated.
A survey has found that 36 is the prime age for the most enjoyable orgasm – and for the highest number of orgasms.
Okay, so your mid-thirties is far from ancient, but it’s also not the generation we would’ve seen as being the most sexually satisfied, either.
It’s not just orgasms that ripen with age though. The survey by contraceptive app Natural Cycles, who surveyed 2,600 women, also found that general enjoyment from sex increased with age, too.
And the big secret behind the findings? Confidence.
Women in their late thirties and above rated themselves 10 per cent higher than 23- to 36-year-olds for how confident they felt and how happy they were with their appearance.
Those aged 23 and below were the age group experiencing the fewest orgasms.
And it doesn’t stop at this age.
A separate study found that half of those aged 40 and above reported sexual activity in the past month, and the majority reported having an orgasm. Also, orgasm satisfaction increased with age.
