7 things you should never share on Facebook

Facebook has been around for so long now, posting updates and photos is second nature. But it's still good to have your wits about you.

Here are six things you absolutely should never post.

1. Your driver’s licence

When you pass your driving test, refrain from uploading proof to Facebook. Your licence will show your date of birth, picture and address – all the information thieves would love to copy before they attempt to steal your identity.

2. Your holiday plans

Share enough holiday snaps until your heart’s content – just don’t post anything online about when you’re going away and how long for. This information is gold for burglars.

3. For that matter, your boarding pass

That barcode on your boarding pass isn't generic, it contains plenty of information about you that would be useful to an identity thief.

Two-dimensional barcodes and QR codes can hold a great deal of information, and the codes printed on airline boarding passes may allow someone to discover more about you, your future travel plans, and your frequent flyer account

4. How you really feel about your boss

Because employers have Facebook too, and it’s sod’s law they’ll find out that you snuck out of work early last week and made them a coffee with gone-off milk.

5. Stuff about your kids

It's up to each individual parent to decide if they want to upload photos of their children online. But if you do, make sure you don't upload anything that could suggest what school they go to, like their school unifrom.

6. Details about your house

If you spend all day sprucing up the house, you might want to bask in your glory by sharing a photo online. Just make sure you don't give away the layout of your home. A burglar's blueprint.

7. Anything else you might regret

Avoid posting anything you might regret in a few years time if it comes back to haunt you. This includes writing anything when drunk.
