What Kanye West said about Bruce Jenner's gender transition

Last week, former gold medal-winning decathlete Bruce Jenner revealed he is a transgender woman.

"For all intents and purposes, I am a woman," he told Diane Sawyer on ABC News on Friday.

In a widely-publicised interview he said: "The female part of me is who I am. I identify as female, and that's very hard for Bruce Jenner to say, because I don't want to disappoint people."

Kim Kardashian has spoken of her support for her stepfather, and Jenner revealed it was her husband Kanye West who helped her comes to terms with the revelation.

He said:

Kim told me a story. She goes, 'You know what really turned me around on thinking about this?' I said, 'What?' She goes, 'Kanye.' I went, 'Oh, OK'. He says to Kim, 'Look, I can be married to the most beautiful woman in the world, and I am. I can have the most beautiful little daughter in the world, and I have that. But I'm nothing if I can't be me. If I can't be true to myself, they don't mean anything.'

Since then, Kimberly has been, by far, the most accepting, and the easiest to talk to about it."

Note: We have referred to Bruce Jenner with male pronouns in this story as he has indicated this is his preference until his transitioning is complete.
