As it is the season of goodwill, you can expect to see plenty of stories that will warm your heart and this one is no exception.
One customer who visited a restaurant in Pennsylvania and ran up just a $205 bill, generously tipped their server $5,000. This reportedly occurred on Saturday, shortly before the state's indoor dining ban came into effect, the Anthony's at Paxon Hollow establishment.
According to CBS Philly, the tip was given by a group of golfers who regularly eat and play at Paxon Hollow, a golf course in Media, Pennsylvania. The Metro adds that the group of four were dressed in Christmas jumpers and hats. The lucky recipient was server Gianna DiAngelo from Philadelphia, who has worked at the restaurant for three years.
The restaurant shared a photograph of the tip on Facebook with the message, “We have no words other than THANK YOU. Unbelievable support for our staff here!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! Thank you for helping our staff get through the holidays!! We LOVE and APPRECIATE you ALL !! We have the best community around!!”
DiAngelo told The Metro that didn’t recognise the men but was overwhelmed by when she saw how much she had been tipped. She added, “I plan to put the money to good use. I’ll split it with co-workers as well as the local community. It’s an amazing gift and an amazing act of kindness.”
DiAngelo, who is a nursing student at Widener University, also told ABC 7 that she will use some of the money to pay for college. “I'm just happy with anything. So when they were saying $5,000, I just couldn't even believe it. I'm going to put that money away toward college and pay it forward to do something good for other people."
The service industry has been one of the hardest-hit areas of the economy during the pandemic but a steep rise in cases has forced Pennsylvania governor Tom Wolf to issue a ban on indoor dining during the holiday season.
