The evil-step mum: what a trope.

Audrey Loving, mother of four-year-old Riley thought so too.

Loving split from Riley’s father after spending several years in a long distance relationship that took its toll on them both.

Loving has full custody of Riley but her father often visits, and takes her away for the weekends.

When the father found himself a new girlfriend, the unhappy cliché should have written itself.

It didn't

Loving told Todaythat coming from a family of step-siblings meant she had experience with mixed families: she was determined not to judge a woman she didn’t know.

In fact, having another person love her daughter could never be a bad thing.

Loving took to Love What Matters' Facebook page to write a post thanking Whitney McGraw, her ex-partner’s girlfriend, for all the love and attention she has been showering on Riley.

I'm super thankful for her because when she visits her dad she feeds her, takes care of her, buys her gifts, and basically takes care of her like her own. Why do all these moms act so spiteful and jealous towards the other women? NO ONE said it was easy trying to be a mother to a kid you didn't have. So when there is someone trying, don't push them away!

Jessica Strite Eastham:

My mom took my stepmom out to lunch when she and my dad were getting serious. They really hit it off and became friends. I even went on vacation with my mom, dad, and stepmom. When my dad and stepmom got divorced, she and my mom stayed friends. It really did make life easier for us kids.

I'm a "bonus mom" and have been for 36 years. I thank God every day that my "bonus son's" mom felt this way about me. We have a great relationship after all these years and I'm so thankful for that.

Needless to say, Loving won the internet.
