These intimate photos capture the joy of adoption

Sarah and David Olson recently decided to adopt after trying for months to conceive a third child.

On 21 July the couple from Minnesota discovered they had been chosen to adopt a baby girl and decided to take along their close friend Kristen Prosser, who happens to be a professional photographer.

Prosser then took pictures of the couple's journey to the other end of the country to meet their new daughter.

The series of heart-warming photos, which she uploaded to Facebook, have since been shared more than 30,000 times and "liked" by over 300,000 people.

The couple hope their photo series can help to inspire other families to adopt children.

"There was and is no different connection and love for our daughter as there is for our sons when we first laid eyes on them," Mr Olson told BuzzFeed. “That is the love we felt for this little baby. That is the power of adoption."

But they also want them to reassure birth mothers how "honored, respected, and loved you are".

"It is our hope that through these pictures and our story that birth mothers might find peace in their decision."
