The world's richest female entrepreneurs have been named.
The sixth edition of the Hurun Richest Self-Made Women in the World report revealed that 49 of the 73 self-made richest women in the world are from China, as well as eight out of the top ten.
The wealthiest self-made woman in the world is Zhou Qunfei, who founded the touchscreen company Lens Technology, which supplies Apple, Samsung and Huawei. Her wealth is valued by the Hurun report at $7.8bn.
Elizabeth Holmes is the wealthiest American on the list (5th), having founded Theranos, a blood testing company, in 2003 when she was a 19-year-old chemical engineering student at Stanford University. Her wealth is valued by the Hurun report at $3.4bn.
The UK has three billionaires in the report, placing third behind leaders China (49) and the second-placed US (15), as the below chart from Statista shows:
