Robert Downey Jr has unfollowed his MCU co-stars and Marvel fans are stunned

Actor Robert Downey Jr has sent fans into a frenzy after unfollowing his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) co-stars on Instagram.

The Iron Man himself (also known as Tony Stark in MCU) has people wondering about his future in the film franchise once they noticed the little unfollowing spree he did.

Iron Man, one of the original characters of The Avengers, has been the topic of curiosity since Avengers: Endgame in 2019.

He snatched Thanos’ (played by Josh Brolin) Infinity Stones away, snapping his fingers to turn Thanos and his crew into ash.

But it came at the ultimate cost.

Iron Man’s armored hand became burned from the blast of the energy, leading to his death.

People on Twitter shared their two cents about Downey Jr unfollowing his coworkers.

“I don’t know what’s happening Mr Stark... WHYYY DID YOUU UNFOLLOW THE MARVEL CAST ON INSTAGRAM?” someone said.

Another person was relieved that it was just Instagram on which Downey Jr decided to unfollow people, not Twitter.

“I was worried for Robert Downey Jr when I read he unfollowed all Marvel co-stars on Instagram but then I checked his Twitter &saw he’s still following everyone on that so now I’m happy cause that could be a cry for help but as long as he doesn’t cut off his friends& family be safe.”

Someone believed that this doesn’t determine genuine friendship because Instagram is an app and not the “end-all-be-all.”

“The fact that people are publicly freaking out about Robert Downey Jr unfollowing MCU people on Instagram as if that is the end-all-be-all determinant of someone’s friendship with someone else, is why I don’t take humanity seriously, by and large. Come on, people.”

Presumably, the MCU cast isn’t taking this situation to heart - Downey Jr has over 50 million followers on Instagram and follows only 43 accounts, including the Smithsonian, Axios, and other environmental organisations.

None of the accounts are of actors.

Ultimately, it seems that Downey Jr is using his Instagram particularly to promote passion projects. He promotes his organisation, FootPrint Coalition.

It’s an organization to help clean the planet and is a “coalition of investors, donors, and storytellers committed to scaling technologies to restore our planet,” per the website.
