We're gonna go out on a limb here and say that working in retail at Christmas has to be one of the most miserable experiences known to man (this writer has been there and done it, folks).

Not only is it a thousand times busier than usual, but you also have to listen to awful Christmas songs all day, which is enough to drive even the most sane of people up the wall.

Then to top it all off, you have to deal with customers who for some reason at this time of year lose all sense of decorum, decency and above all, manners. It tends to be only a small minority, but that one ignorant person can really ruin your day.

Although it would be completely unprofessional, it would be great if staff were allowed to extract some sort of revenge on a customer who was inexplicably rude at Christmas time.

Step-forward then Sarah Belanger Demaneuf from North Alabama, who shared a story on an amazingly petty piece of vengeance that she took out on an ignorant customer who she had the misfortune of serving at a retail store 17 years ago.

In a Facebook post titled 'The Star of Vengeance', she explains that the woman was attempting to haggle the price of an already reduced Christmas tree ornament.

Sarah refused to reduce the price, which resulted in the woman explaining that she knew someone who worked in another branch of the retailer and had been told that the ornaments would be reduced tomorrow anyway so she would just wait.

Sarah replied to this by saying that she couldn't guarantee that all the ornaments would be left by tomorrow as there were only 12 left. The woman found this concept ridiculous and she refused to believe that all 12 decorations would be sold in such a short amount of time.

According to Sarah, the woman said:

There are 12 in the store. No one is going to buy all 12. I'll get what I want, prepare to feel stupid tomorrow.

Rather than look stupid herself, Sarah decided to make the woman look stupid and decided to buy every decoration in the store, thus proving that all 12 would have been sold by the next day.

To take it one step further, she decided to call all the other stores in the area and purchase their decorations too. It did end up costing her $30, but it was a small price to pay for an otherwise great piece of vengeance.

It got better when the woman returned to the store the next day only to be told that every decoration in North Alabama had been sold to one person and there were none left.

I had the pleasure of telling her that ALL of the star ornaments in North Alabama had been sold to one customer. The look on her face was worth every penny spent.

Sarah added that she gave all of the decorations away to her friends and family but did keep one that she hangs on her tree every year, providing her with a fond memory of this casual bit of trolling.
