Do you hear the clang of that gauntlet, people? Taylor Swift just laid claim to being the nicest person in the world.
Last week, a firefighter named Aaron VanRiper responded to the scene of a car crash, only to find his wife Amber and his son Jonathan, 7, were the victims.
Jonathan was pinned inside the car and Amber was found outside.
While Jonathan has been released from hospital following surgery on his arm and his leg, Amber is still being treated by doctors for a broken pelvis.
Since the family, from Texas, do not have any health insurance, a friend of the VanRipers set up a GoFundMe page to assist them with the medical bills.
On Thursday, the family were alerted to the fact that someone claiming to be Taylor Swift had donated $15,000 to the page.
This donation turned out to be genuinely from the 25-year-old star herself as a source confirmed to Buzzfeed News.
Mandy Kibby, who started the page, said that the VanRiper family and their loved ones are incredibly moved by Ms Swift’s gesture.
