It turns out Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are related.
Not in a 'we are all one, sharing this globe in unity, related in a shared goal' kind of way either.
They are very distant cousins, thanks to a late 15th Century ancestor of the Queen Mother.
Their shared ancestor is Ralph Bowes who lived 15 generations ago as the High Sheriff of County Durham and owned Streatham Castle.
His grandson, Christopher Hussey, set sail for America in 1632, helping to found Nantucket, Massachusetts - the family line that would eventually produce Markle's father and Markle herself.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry's ancestors continued the Bowes name.
But the pair had to have a common ancestor at one point.
No need to cancel any possible wedding plans.
Research suggests that everybody in Europe alive a thousand years ago who had children is an ancestor of everyone with some European ancestry today (which includes Markle).
