The New York Post has sparked a debate after publishing a story about a New York medic who started an OnlyFans account to financially support herself.
A GoFundMe has been created to support the medic and it has already raised over $17,000 in donations after just one day,
People were angered by the fact that the medic is presumably struggling to make ends meet on her salary, which should not be the case.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spoke out on the headline of the article. “Leave her alone,” she tweeted in a reply. “The actual scandalous headline here is ‘Medics in the United States need two jobs to survive.’”

As one person pointed out, many women are struggling to make ends meet during the pandemic. And instead of shifting blame to the system that keeps them underpaid, people think these women are being shamed.

As many have rightly pointed out, it’s time to call out the system that forces healthcare workers to pick up second jobs to support themselves.
