LeBron James mocks poll when he didn’t receive any votes for best player

NBA star LeBron James isn’t letting go of his A-list status just yet, despite receiving no votes on an anonymous poll by ESPN about the best player in the league right now.

On Thursday, James took to his official Twitter to mock the anonymous poll of NBA scouts and executives’ choices.

Both Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo received five votes, while James received zip.

James noted that the poll made him more motivated.

James also posted screenshots of the results to his Instagram Story to post the results with a bunch of laughing-crying emojis.

The poll doesn’t necessarily indicate that James wasn’t considered for the title at all.

An Eastern Conference executive told ESPN that Durant or James could be regarded as the best players in the NBA. Still, Antetokounmpo has an advantage in age and history of injuries.

“He’s unlocked a different cheat code at both ends that gives him that spot,” the executive told the outlet. “You can certainly argue for Durant and LeBron, but between injury and age, can they consistently do it?”

James has missed critical time to injury in two out of the past three seasons. And entering his 19th season, with more time playing than all players but two in the history of the sport, it’s not transparent if James can conjure MVP-level effort for the 82 games or remain on the floor on a constant basis.

One thing James evidently isn’t lacking is the motivation to push through no matter what. Besides, a strong campaign for an improved Lakers team would put James in a position to win a 5th MVP.
