Back in October an image went viral of a father awkwardly attempting to change his young son's diaper in a men's bathroom but without the assistance of a table.
The image from Donde Palmer, was widely shared with the intention of raising awareness about the lack of child changing facilities in male bathrooms.
Palmer has continued his campaign into 2019 and has now earned the support of major singer-songwriter John Legend, who has teamed up with diaper brand Pampers to spread this important message.
Legend shared a video on his Instagram account on Tuesday to call for a change and makes lives easier for fathers and their children by installing 5000 changing tables in restrooms across the United States.
In the post the star wrote:
Most dads have been there: you’re out with your kids & there's no place to change their diaper.
In honour of Father’s Day, Pampers is providing 5000 Koala Kare changing tables in public restrooms.
Finally, no more diaper duty of your lap!
Legend, who has three children with his wife Chrissy Teigen, is quoted as saying about the 'Love the Change' campaign:
We really started getting behind the idea of dads having diaper duty and that being a part of co-parenting
Then Pampers and Koala Kare came together to say, ‘You know what? We’re encouraging dads to change diapers and be active parts of the parenting duties, but a lot of times, the facilities aren’t built for that to happen.
I’m glad that we’re highlighting this issue.
Overall, it’s part of a movement that we recognise the duties of parenting and running the house should be shared more equally between partners.
I think making the changing stations available is gonna make a difference for a lot of people.”
