Jennifer Lawrence threw shade at Joanna Lumley and people are not happy

Nobody, not even the beloved Jennifer Lawrence, gets away with throwing shade at national treasure Joanna Lumley.

Not when Brits have access to Twitter, a keyboard and a whole lot of feelings.

Kicking off the Baftas, the 71-year-old Absolutely Fabulous star said:

Right let’s start giving out some of those beautiful Baftas shall we?

And we start with the award for Outstanding British Film, and who better to kick the whole evening off than the hottest actress on the planet.

Soon to be seen in Red Sparrow, it’s the ravishing Jennifer Lawrence.

But Jennifer didn't appear to impressed with her introduction. She responded:

Hi, that was a bit much, but thank you Joanna.

To be fair, maybe the actor found the lavish praise a little embarrassing. She could have just been joking around in classic Jennifer fashion.

But people didn't let that get in the way of their outrage, as social media was lightening-fast to squeeze out any drama from the Baftas this year.

The ceremony was still in session when the tweets began...

British Twitter was having absolutely none of it.

Though others had a little more sympathy for Jennifer.

The Outstanding British Film award went to Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

If you're both a Joanna and Jennifer fan, you'll be glad to know that the pair had a natter during the acceptance speech.
