‘Game of Thrones’ fans rejoice as Jason Momoa and Emilia Clarke reunite in sweet photo

It’s safe to say a mini-reunion commenced as Emilia Clarke and Jason Momoa were captured in a sweet photo for Game of Thrones co-creator David Benioff’s birthday.

Momoa and Clarke, who portrayed lovers Khal Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO show, both took to their Instagram accounts to mark the celebration.

“When your sun and stars rolls into town, you check that he can still bench press a Khaleesi,” Clarke’s caption read as Momoa carried her.

Additionally, Momoa took to his Instagram to share photos of the night, including Benioff and the same photo Clarke uploaded. He also added a couple more adorable shots of the Game of Thrones lovers.

“MOON OF MY LIFE. You are wonderful love u forever @emilia_clarke#smilelyeyes happy birthday, Benioff, you handsome, generous badass leo aloha,” Momoa’s caption read.

People in the comments of the heartwarming photos were also delighted about the reunion.

“Every time the two of you are together, you always have the biggest smiles!!! I love this friendship, [it] makes me smile too!” someone wrote.

“MY HEART FOR THIS GENUINE & PURE FRIENDSHIP. KHAL & HIS KHALEESI,” another added.

A third believed the moment was goals and wrote: “I love it. Friendship goals.”

In 2017, Clarke spoke to Rolling Stone about their first meeting after being cast in Game of Thrones and how their friendship came to be.

They first met in a hotel lobby in Belfast, and she was really exhausted. And from across the way, she heard someone shout “WIFEY!” which happened to be Momoa.

“And this huge Hawaiian man comes bounding over to me, picks me up, and genuinely gets me in a rugby tackle to the floor,” Clarke said in the video.

She also said that when she was picked back up and dusted off, she responded, “‘Who are you?’” while letting out a chuckle.

In 2019, Clarke penned an essay for The New Yorker revealing the life-threatening brain aneurysms she experienced, especially one instance in 2011 while working out at a gym.

“I started to feel a bad headache coming on. I was so fatigued that I could barely put on my sneakers,” she said, in part, in the essay.

She also noted that it felt like an “elastic band [was] squeezing my brain.”

Momoa spoke to Entertainment Tonight during the season eight premiere of Game of Thrones and discussed Clarke’s bravery and how she’s helping to “raise awareness.”

“I’m very sad because we almost lost her numerous times. I love her to bits, and she’s here, and she’s going to do great things with it and teach the world,” he continued.
