7 Hollywood stars who raised eyebrows by dating teenagers

High-end dating app Raya has been in the news recently, after Ben Affleck and Matthew Perryapparently tried to hook-up with much younger women ... to no avail.

Kate Haralson – who leaked a video of her FaceTime encounter with the 51-year-old Friends star – said she was just 19 when she matched with him on the app last May.

Meanwhile Affleck, 48, pursued a woman on Instagram after she removed him after assuming that his profile was a fake catfish.

Nivine Jay - who’s in her mid-20s - shared a video on TikTok in which she said: “Thinking of the time I matched with Ben Affleck on Raya and thought it was fake so I unmatched him and he sent me a video on Instagram.”

With large, slightly uncomfortable age gaps in the news, we dug into the archives to round up seven celebrities who dated people way, way outside of their age bracket.

1. Tyga

California-based rapper Tyga was already in his mid-twenties when he started dating 16-year-old Kylie Jenner,  the youngest member of the Keeping Up With The Kardashians clan.

When Jenner was 17, Amber Rose, Kanye West’s ex-girlfriend, outed Tyga and Jenner’s relationship in a Power 105.1 FM interview.

Rose believed that Tyga left his fiance and mother of his son, Blac Chyna, for Jenner.

When Jenner turned 18, she and Tyga confirmed that they were in a relationship. They eventually broke up a year later.

2. Elvis

Elvis Presley, one of the biggest pop icons of all time, was 24 when he first met 14-year-old Priscilla Beaulieu in 1959.

Presley was a part of the military and was stationed in Germany at the time.

The couple began dating but the relationship turned long-distance when he came home to the US after his discharge in 1960.

Two years later, the now 16 year old Beaulieu moved to Memphis to be near her beau. They eventually got married in 1967 when Priscilla was 21 and the next year, she gave birth to  Lisa Marie.

In 1973, they broke up and officially divorced.

3. Fergie

When Fergie was 23, she began dating Justin Timberlake, who was 16.

They broke up, obviously, and she later said it wasn’t that serious.

4. Joel Madden

Joel Madden of Good Charlotte started dating Disney Channel star Hilary Duff - who is known for popular show Lizzie McGuire - in 2004. He was 25 and she was 16. 

They didn’t become public until the following year.

Madden and Duff dated for three years until the actress decided to call it quits. She confirmed that the age difference was a factor in the split.

5. Nicole Scherzinger

Nicole Scherzinger dated Harry Styles when he was still a member of One Direction.

She was apparently in her 30s when she encountered the then 16-year-old boy band member.

Reports suggest that the two didn’t start dating until Styles was 19, but their 15 year age gap definitely caused a bunch of talk.

6. John Mayer

Musician John Mayer dated fellow artist Taylor Swift when she was 19 and he was 32.

Eventually, he  broke her heart. Swift ended up writing a song about the breakup called ‘Dear John’, which features the notable lyrics: “Maybe it’s you and your sick need to give love then take it away/And you’ll add my name to your long list of traitors who don’t understand.”

7. Doug Hutchison

Doug Hutchison, an actor most known for playing antagonists in The Green Mile and The X Files, married model Courtney Stodden when she was just 16 and he was 51.

The couple took their controversial relationship and showcased it on Couples Therapy and Celebrity Big Brother in the UK.

In 2013, they ended up splitting, but the following year they got back together.

Then, in the spring of 2018, Stodden ended the relationship once and for all when she filed for divorce.
