Alex Younger has been appointed as the successor to Sir John Sawers as chief of the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), which you might also know as MI6.
As is becoming for a spymaster, it turns out he's pretty good at covering his tracks.
Here's what we know about him:
- He looks like this.
His name is Alex Younger.
The foreign secretary said he kept the country safe during the London 2012 Olympics.
He is a former officer in the British Army.
He is an economics graduate.
He enjoys music, sailing and mountaineering.
He is married, with children.
He is described as a "career SIS officer" and has worked for MI6 since 1991.
He has worked across Europe, the Middle East and headed up SIS operations in Afghanistan.
In the 2011 Queen's birthday honours he was made a commander (CMG).
Um...
That's it.
