Graduating from higher education is a crowning achievement for many a young person.

Yet, the path to that moment isn't always easy and straightforward for everyone. There are many bumps in the road and you can never be sure what life is going to throw at you.

One person who knows what that feels like is Hanss Mujica from Texas, who has worked from the bottom back to the top in order to thank his parents.

Shortly after he enrolled at university he was suspended due to his lack of commitment to his education.

This news devastated his parents and from that moment on he decided to change his life for the better.

Writing on Facebook, Hanss explains how he reapplied himself to his education and raised the funds himself to pay for it and eventually applied for federal aid in spring 2017.

Fast forward to this year and Hanss has finally graduated - but he never told his parents it was happening.

Then on his graduation day, he decided to surprise them and let's just say that there was a lot of emotions.
