BTS made history on Sunday night as they won Artist of the Year at the 2021 American Music Awards, and their loyal fans have flooded social media with support for their favourite K-Pop group.

The boyband won all three awards they were nominated for, including Favourite Pop Duo or Group and Favourite Pop Song for their hit single, ‘Butter’.

BTS made history as the first Asian act to win Artist of the Year at the AMAS, up against nominees such as Taylor Swift, Drake and Olivia Rodrigo.

Their fans, called the ARMY, took to Twitter to share their congratulations for the group.

This was also BTS’ third year in a row winning Favourite Pop Duo or Group at the AMAs.

The band – made up of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook – also performed their song, ‘My Universe’ with Coldplay and ‘Butter’, to the joy of the ARMY who posted their reactions to the performance.

In their acceptance speech for Artist of the Year, RM said: “Nobody could have ever bet on the odds of us standing here receiving this award. Except y’all, ARMY. Except y’all.

“Seven boys from Korea, united by a love for music. We met the love and support from all the ARMYs all over the world. This whole thing is a miracle. Seriously, we’ll never take this for granted. Thank you so much.”

Jungkook continued their speech, hinting at the band’s plans for next year before he was jokingly carried away by his older band-member, Jin.

BTS undoubtedly lit up the AMA stage like ‘dynamite’, and we’re sure 2022 will follow suit!
