Businesswoman Barbara Corcoran has apologised after making a comment towards actress Whoopi Goldberg about her weight during an appearance on The View.
Shark Tank star Corcoran made a remark during yesterday’s broadcast of the show while talking about Emma Grede’s inclusive denim brand, Good American. Grede will be the first black woman guest shark on the popular reality show, and created the denim brand with Khloé Kardashian. Grede previously worked with Kim Kardashian on shapewear brand Skims.
During the discussion about the brand, Goldberg made reference to her bum and asked: "Will they [the jeans] fit this COVID?"
The panel laughed, and co-host Ana Navarro gestured to herself and said: “They fit this COVID.”
Corcoran then chimed in and said: "And when you get finished with those jeans and decide you don’t like them, give them to me. I’m going to make two pairs."
Goldberg stopped laughing and looked lost for words as some people in the studio can be heard laughing awkwardly, while others groaned.
Ana Navarro quickly hit back with a witty defence as she ripped up her discussion cards, telling Corcoran: “Let me just tell you something. Both Sara Haines and Jill Biden wore that dress already on TV.”
After the show, Corcoran apologised to Goldberg and anyone else she offended by sharing a video with her 737,000 followers on Twitter.
She said: “I just came back from The View and saw my old friend, Whoopi. As you well know, she has a phenomenal sense of humor and I’ve known Whoopi for years.
“I made a joke at Whoopi’s expense which I now realise wasn’t funny. For anyone who I may have offended unintentionally I just wanted to say I really am very sorry.”
Corcoran received a mixed reaction to her video, with some accepting her apology while others said she could have done better:

Although it took making the comment in front of millions of people to realise it, we’re glad Corcoran now realises that making someone else the butt of a bad joke is never a good look.
