Kim Kardashian is in Armenia to draw attention to genocide because that's the way the world is now

This week Kim Kardashian, her sister Khloe and other family members met with the Armenian prime minister in Yerevan to discuss the Armenian genocide. Really.

The reality TV star is thought to be working on a documentary on the killings, in which Armenia says 1.5million people died between 1915 and 1917 in an area that is now part of Turkey as the Ottoman Empire disintegrated.

In a statement, the office of prime minister Hovik Abrahamyan hailed the "Kardashian family's contribution to the cause of international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian genocide".

Kim Kardashian meanwhile tweeted this:

The Kardashian clan would have met with Armenian president Serzh Sarkisian, but he is currently in Italy meeting Pope Francis.

Official international recognition of the genocide is mixed, with Turkey rejecting the label, claiming that 1million people - half of them Turks - died in a civil war fuelled by invading Russian troups.
