A stand-up comedian vowed to take the steps to ensure another "Karen" is unable to disrupt his comedy set.
Affion Crockett had his set interrupted when a woman jumped on stage while he was performing at the Comedy Zone in Jacksonville, Florida.
The comedian shared a video of the incident, which he described as the woman storming the stage “like the Capitol” on his Instagram account.
“Soo tonight I had my first KAREN storm the stage like the Capitol. I can’t make this shit up. When I perform, I SAID WHAT I SAID. If you don’t like it, don’t come. Cancel deez nuts 🥜🤦🏽♂️🖕🏽🤷🏽♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣,” he captioned his post.
In the clip, Crockett questions the woman’s reason for barging on stage which she responds by saying that she finds his jokes about sex offensive. The crowd then began to boo the woman, leading Crockett to ask the audience if anyone was insulted by what he had said—to which seemingly everyone responded with a resounding “No.”
When asked by TMZ about the situation, Crockett was for the most part left unfazed, explaining that hecklers are part of the territory when it comes to his work. However, he shared that he won’t be making it easy for anyone that dares to follow in the woman’s footsteps in the future.
“For security reasons, no one is going to be jumping on my stage again, I’ll tell you that,” Crockett told the outlet, adding that he would “100%” be strengthening his security.
“If you notice in the video, I was curious. At no point did I feel like...I didn’t feel like I was going to be harmed and I could tell she was drunk. I just wanted to know what made her bring her ass on stage like that,” the comedian said.
