Adam Hills has responded to the UK Government’s decision to change the goalposts of the definition of child poverty with an impassioned rant on the Channel 4 show, The Last Leg.
Talking of the decision to repeal legally binding child poverty targets, announced by Work and Pensions Secretary, Iain Duncan Smith, Hills joked:
If we’ve learned one thing about this Government it’s that politicians really love screwing vulnerable children.
When the crowd reacted with shock to the punchline, Hills bolstered his argument with an angry tirade against the government’s £12bn of welfare cuts that their own child poverty advisors have said are highly likely to raise child poverty.
Ah, do you know what? F ‘em. Absolutely f ‘em!
“Ooooh!” Do you know what? That’s the f*ing problem with the country right now, you make a joke about politicians screwing children and people go “Oooh, you can’t say that!”
No! No one can say it for 30 f*ing years, and that’s why they’ve been doing it!
We need to talk more about the fact that politicians are f*ing children! In every sense!
He appeared to win the crowd round, however, as the climax of his outburst was met with cheers and applause.
Take a look at some of the best of Mr Hills' work below:
On Katie Hopkins:
There's no point calling you a dick, because you know you're being a dick. You trade on it. You're a dick for hire.
On Westboro Baptist Church:
I will personally pay for every member of the Westboro Baptist Church to fly to Iraq right now. I'll even fly you first class and pay the carbon offset.
On breastfeeding hate:
Do you have any idea what it's like to hold a hungry, crying baby? I do because I've got two daughters and I'll tell you right now, if I could whip out a hairy man-boob and dispense a frothy milkshake I would.
