A woman has been fired after her callous text messages to an employee whose son is on child support went viral.
Crystal Reynolds Fisher shared the exchange between her and a manager named Dawn, who worked at a Fork Oil store in Michigan.
Fisher messaged her 48 hours before her shift to let her know that she wouldn’t be coming to work because her son was ‘still on life support'.
I’m just letting u know my son is still on life support so until he is out of the bad I will not be able to make it to work. I can let u know as he starts to get better so that way I can return to work with no problems.
Dawn’s response:
That isn’t how we do things, so I’ll accept that you’re quitting.
When Fisher insisted she wasn’t quitting, that her child is on life support, Dawn said ‘if you can’t come to work that’s you quitting'.
Eventually, Fisher said she was writing to the corporate organisation, but Dawn was relentless:
I will not get into with you on here but I’ve been more than accommodating during this allowing schedule changes and such. There is no reason you can’t work and I will not tolerate drama. End of conversation.
If you aren’t there to work your shift tomorrow then I take that as you’ve quit.
Fisher shared the entire exchange on Facebook, and it quickly went viral.
Her post was shared more than 72,000 times, with users leaving more than 17,000 comments.
One person wrote: "Wow, this is so wrong. Family comes first. Karma will bite her in the ass if that's how she treats her employees. Sending prayers, strength and positive vibes to your way."
Another wrote:
That’s absolutely disgusting I don’t understand this world anymore hoping your son makes it through.

If ANYONE said that to me and my child was potentially on their death bed, I would be putting them through f**king hell! That is so nasty🤬 I’d definitely be taking this to someone higher such as her boss because that is not on what so ever!!!
The gas company Fork Oil eventually got wind of the incident and, in a Facebook post of their own, confirmed that the manager had been let go.
We’d like to follow up on the issue brought to our attention recently regarding how an employee time off request was handled by one of our managers.
We investigated and have found that the situation was handled improperly and without the compassion that we value as a company. For that, we are very sorry.
As a result of this finding, we took quick action and that manager is no longer employed by PS Food Mart. We have also reaffirmed to our employee that she will be able to take all the time off that she needs during this difficult period. We’d like to thank the public for their concern.
