Black Mirror is undoubtedly one of the most popular series on Netflix right now but had you ever stopped to think what the name of the show actually means?

It could refer to the bleak abyss that the world appears to be heading towards or the technology black hole that is consuming society.

It's neither of those, but it has a lot to do with how you choose to watch the show.

Just think about the devices that you watch nearly every episode of the show through. It's usually a laptop or a smartphone, right?

What happens when the episode ends and the screen goes to dark? That's right you can see your reflection on a dark screen or as it should also be known a "black mirror".

The series creator Charlie Brooker confirmed this in an interview with The Guardian in 2011. He said:

The "black mirror" of the title is the one you'll find on every wall, on every desk, in the palm of every hand: the cold, shiny screen of a TV, a monitor, a smartphone.

When you think about it for a second it actually makes a lot of sense and with the latest season currently the talk of the internet, people are only just starting to realise what the name represents.

As you can guess, it is causing a lot of people to question everything that they know about life and reality.
