Trump jokes again that he'll serve more than two terms as president during campaign rally speech

In the acclaimed graphic novel Watchmen, Richard Nixon avoids the Watergate scandal, wins the Vietnam war and is still serving as president in 1985, having won five elections.

Thatis, of course, just fiction but it would seem that Trump is toying with the idea of remaining as president for more than two terms, which is the tradition for a serving president.

During his campaign rally in Montoursville, Pennsylvania on Monday evening, Trump said that he and his supporters are 'going to make America great for a second time' and if they are successful could win for a third, fourth or even fifth time.

The president began the speech by saying:

Now we're going to have a second time and another one.

And then we are going to drive them crazy. And then we'll drive them crazy. Ready?

And maybe if we really like it a lot and if things keep going like they're going, we'll go and we'll do what we have to do.

We'll do a three and a four and a five.

We're going to have another one, and it's going to be great.

The twenty-second amendment of the US constitution prevents any individual from taking the role of president for more than two terms but this isn't the first time that Trump has made this joke.

During a speech last month at the White House, Trump joked to members of the Wounded Warrior Project that he could remain in the Oval Office for 14 years.

I was going to joke, General, and say at least for 10 or 14 years, but we would cause bedlam if I said that, so we’ll say six.

Given that this isn't the first time that Trump has said this, people are starting to worry that he isn't actually joking at all.
