What Trump did immediately after giving his coronavirus address has enraged people

On Wednesday evening Donald Trump confirmed that the United States will be closing its borders to all travellers from Europe barring the UK and Ireland to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

Although the president did not declare a national emergency when talking about the 'foreign virus' but did confirm that from 20 March all travel from the 26 countries in the Schengen area will be stopped from entering the US for 30 days.

This is the most decisive action that the president has taken so far against the virus and also included a ban from all travel from China.

Of course, Trump was delighted with his decision, boasting that the United States had fewer confirmed cases than all of Europe and blamed the EU for not taking the "same precautions."

Trump was his usual self in front of the camera but when he thought the broadcast had finished the veil slipped. What had seemed like a very serious address about a deadly virus soon appeared to be nothing more than an inconvenience to him.

Just seconds after finishing his address, Trump let out a huge sigh and exclaimed "okaaay" in a way that would be more fitting of a teenager who had just been grounded rather than the president trying to reassure everyone.

Trump's seemingly blase attitude about a very serious subject has not gone down well.

The president was also caught on hot mic, before his address, cursing and complaining about a pen mark.

At the time of writing, the United States had over 1000 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 38 deaths. On Wednesday, the World Health Organisation confirmed that this is now a pandemic.

Major stars like Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have tested positive for the virus while the NBA has been forced to suspend its entire season after a player for the Utah Jazz was also confirmed as having the virus.
