Tim Farron releases image of him and Theresa May looking like members of a 1980s synth duo

It's been 25 years since the 1992 general election here in the UK. A tumultuous few days of nail biting results and an eventual fourth consecutive victory for the Conservative party, led at the time by John Major.

But enough about that, let's look at what the current leader of the Liberal Democrats, Tim Farron, just shared.

In 1992 he ran against current Prime Minister Theresa May for the constituency of North West Durham.

They were both beaten by Labour MP Hillary Armstrong, but in the competition for the classiest haircuts we think they came joint first.

Farron tweeted:

25 years ago today, me and the PM heading for defeat...but both sporting Rick Astley's hairdo
