Everyone knows Instagram filters can make real life look a little more exciting. But if you follow celebrities' posts sometimes it's hard to remember what counts as normal and what's just ridiculous.
Enter Celeste Barber, a comedian from Sydney.
She started recreating celebrity Instagram poses a few months ago with the hashtag #celestechallengeaccepted using stars such as the Kardashians, Kate Moss and Paris Hilton as inspiration to show just how staged these 'natural' shots really are.
The results are hilarious - since as Barber points out, no one really poses in their underwear in a pile of dirt (a la Kim Kardashian), or gets a sunset bikini hairflip right the first time (please step forward, Giselle):
Celeste told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation:
People are so obsessed with celebrities and celebrities seem to be so obsessed with portraying everyday people... I thought, right, if this is what everyone does — challenge accepted.
Her project is about mocking the cult of celebrity rather than the individual women involved, Celeste stressed.
"I'm very pro-woman. I don't want to be bashing people like Kim K, I actually think 'good on her'. I think she is a smart business woman," Celeste said.
"She has a brand and her brand is her arse and it's a good one."
