Just how easy is it to buy a gun in America?

The Orlando shooting took the lives of 50 people and scarred the entire nation in what is the worst mass shooting in generations. While Barack Obama tried to nudge the conversation towards stricter gun control, much of country remains involved in a love affair with firearms.

An interactive map, designed by 1Point21 demonstrates not only how easy it is to buy a gun, but also how easy it is to find a gun shop.

And it's frighteningly easy.

This graph by Statista shows just how prolific licensed gun shops are in the US:

There are almost 65,000 gun dealerships in the US, which is more than supermarkets, McDonald's and Starbucks put together.

There are more places to buy weapons to shoot people with than there are to feed yourself in two of the biggest chains in the world.
