Images of Gillian Anderson playing Margaret Thatcher in The Crown have left fans feeling very... confused.

In case you're wondering why: Gillian Anderson is thought by many to be very attractive. But the politics of Margaret Thatcher, to many, are much less attractive.

Glimpses of Anderson's transformation for the fourth season of The Crown were teased in a new Netflix trailer.

The season, which is set for release on 15th November, will also see the introduction of Lady Diana Spencer, and her two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

Some fans were horrified by the prospect of people "thirsting on Margaret Thatcher".

Separate the art from the artist. I repeat: separate the art from the artist.

Others were equally shaken, but also confused and intrigued...

We can't exactly ask Anderson to be less attractive. After all, she is who she is.

But we can trust her bring a fantastic performance to The Crown.

If outspoken Democrat Meryl Streep can win an Oscar for playing Thatcher in The Iron Lady, we have no doubt that Anderson is up to the job too.

We can't wait to watch her in The Crown's new series when it drops.
