The 10 jobs most likely to turn you to drink

The US government has released data on the jobs with the highest percentage of workers who drink heavily.

As this chart from Statista shows, 17.5 per cent of those who work in the mining industry report heavy alcohol abuse, while construction workers (16.5 per cent) and those in hospitality (11.8 per cent) follow shortly after.

The data, collated by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, found that teachers and government employees (less than 5 per cent) were the least likely groups to report heavy drinking.

Heavy drinking was defined as "drinking five or more drinks on the same occasion (i.e., at the same time or within a couple of hours of each other) on 5 or more days in the past 30 days".
