Heartwarming tales have already emerged from the devastation Hurricane Irma is wreaking on Florida.
Millions have evacuated as Florida faces the 'most catastrophic storm' it has ever seen with tornadoes, flooding and 130mph winds.
But, among the destruction and chaos, remarkable acts of hope and resilience have weathered the storm.
1. Some people went towards rather than away from the storm
Muslim Marine - an organisation of Muslim American Marines - members braved the journey to Orlando to lend a helping hand.

When actress Kristen Bell learnt that her Frozen co-star Josh Gad's family were evacuating Florida, she got them a hotel room.
Bell is was in Florida shooting a film - and now she's helping those who need it.

So the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) made a map.
Shelters are also going the extra length to help.
6. The simplest acts of kindness matter
Much of Florida is experiencing a loss of water, power and communication.
7. And the biggest acts always take a team effort
Richard Branson also tweeted that Hurricane Irma "really is the storm of the century" and that everyone needs to pitch in - which they did.
8. Animals were not forgotten
One kind stranger offered their place for free.
Thankfully, they were already safe.
