SNL’s 'white male rage' sketch has predictably enraged a lot of white males

Saturday Night Live’s Melissa Villaseñor has enraged white males by singing a song about white male rage on the Weekend Update segment of the show.

Villaseñor was brought on ostensibly to discuss the big Oscar nominees and began by singing a song about Todd Phillips’ Joker.

The song appeared to simply outline the plot of the film before concluding:

But the thing that this movie is really about is white male rage, white male rage, white male rage.

The comedian and impressionist proceeded to sing a ditty about The Irishman and, you guessed it, the tune ended with the observation that, in fact, the picture is actually all about white male rage.

The comic went on to note that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Jojo Rabbit, 1917, and Toy Story 4 (yes, really) were all essentially about white male rage. Greta Gerwig’s Little Women was exempt from such criticism.

As you might have predicted, the white men of the internet reacted angrily without realising quite how silly this might make them look.

The irony was clearly lost on these people.
