Russell Brand is threatening to sue the Sun (for the second time)

Russell Brand has threatened to sue the Sun newspaper over its front page and subsequent story this morning that claims he pays his rent to an allegedly "tax-avoiding" landlord.

The paper alleges that "gobby" Brand pays his landlord "£76,000 a year for a luxury home - while ranting against sky-high rents and tax-dodgers", with the front-page splash reading "HYPOCRITE".

In the article, the paper references Brand's frustrated response to the Channel 4 News reporter who questioned him over his rent when he was at Downing Street on Monday with residents from the New Era Estate.

It would not be the first time the "millionaire revolutionary", as the tabloid brands him, has sued the Sun.

He successfully claimed damages from the News UK title earlier this year after it wrongly claimed he had cheated on his girlfriend Jemima Khan with a super model.

On that occasion the comedian and activist donated the money to the Hillsborough Justice Campaign which seeks to fight for justice for those who died in the Hillsborough stadium disaster in 1989.
