Barack Obama last night arrived in Nairobi at the start of a two-day trip to Kenya, the country where his father was born.
The visit is his first as president - in fact the first by any sitting US president - and his fourth overall.
The first time Obama visited his father's native country was in 1987 while in his 20s, as these rarely-seen images show:

President Obama returned to Kenya in 2006 as the senator for Illinois, where he again met his grandmother Sarah.
And this was the scene last night at a hotel in Nairobi, as he was reunited with family members.
