A Mexican politician demonstrated how to put on a condom with your mouth, and people are furious

Mexican politics is getting quite the NSFW reputation.

First former president Vicente Fox made headlines with his expletive riddled denunciation of US president Donald Trump.

Now another politician has made headlines for content of an adult nature.

Dione Anguiano, a member of the Party of Democratic Revolution, has made headlines in Mexico after a sexual education demonstration she performed in front of school children was criticised for being inappropriate.

The 52 year old politician was speaking at a youth event in Iztapalapa district about the benefits of contraceptives.

Anguiano is currently the deputy chief of Iztapalapa and represented it in the legislative assembly of Mexico City since 2012.

Contraception in Mexico is more than 70 per cent prevalent, but a 2013 study found that 1 in 3 pregnant Mexican women were under the age of 20.

Anguiano used her mouth to apply a condom to a sex toy, much to the amusement of the young people in attendance who recorded the demonstration.

Footage of the sexual health class went viral, prompting complaints from parents.

Speaking at the event on Valentine's Day Anguiano said:

I invite the youth to celebrate love with responsibility and avoid unplanned pregnancy.

Learn how to protect yourselves.

At the event free condoms were distributed, and women aged 18-45 were given the opportunity to have a female condom fitted.
