Last year, scientists discovered that a lack of oestrogen left men more vulnerable to flu and respiratory illnesses. In other words: man flu was not a myth.
Now researchers have found that if men have more than one symptom, they will feel worse.
A longitudinal study of 1,471 men and 1,388 British women found that personality affected how women felt when they were unwell, but all men reacted “the same” when dealing with illness.
"Women are more impacted by illness than men, unless more than one symptom is present," said lead author Professor Robert Rosenman. "Then men are more impacted than women."
