The biggest problem with Theresa May telling a nurse who hadn't had a pay rise in years there's no magical money tree

“There’s no magic money tree,” Theresa May told a nurse who hadn’t received a pay rise in years. On live television.

During an election special of Question Time, the woman, who has been a nurse for 26 years, questioned May over her pay, which hasn’t increased in real terms for several years.

This year, nurses will get a one per cent pay rise, despite inflation rising by 2.3 per cent. That’s a loss in real terms.

May, for some reason, decided it would be a good idea to blame Labour’s out-of-control spending. Yes, the party that hasn’t been in government since 2010.

May's answer was:

There isn't a magic money tree that we can shake that suddenly provides for everything that people want.

May apparently forgot that there is a magic money tree, and it's called "government".

Honestly, see for yourself:

People didn't take too well to her response.
