Kanye West has released his latest album, Jesus Is King, and one musician thinks it might have ripped off the music from The Legend of Zelda.
The album, delayed by a few weeks and then a few hours, was finally released on Friday. It is a gospel-inspired ninth record from the hip hop icon that features contributions from the likes of Kenny G, Clipse, Timbaland, and Pi’erre Bourne.
Musician Louie Zong spotted an unlikely influence on the track, Selah, pointing out the similarity to a song from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
While there is no credit on the album for a sample, one can only assume someone involved was playing the game and the music somehow found its way into the mix akin to a Freudian slip. It's safe to say that Kanye fans were into it.
Hopefully a typically modest statement will be forthcoming from the artist sooner rather than later.
