Kate has been through a lot in her life. Writing to JK Rowling on Twitter earlier this week, she explained how the writer's fiction had helped her cope in her recovery from abuse.
After speaking about her sexual assault, bullying and attempts to take her own life, Kate explained that she wanted to get an "expecto patronum" tattoo on her wrist.
You helped me get through every single thing one way or another! You gave me a second, a third chance, you gave me so many chances in life and not taking them seriously wouldn't be fair to you.
I will never be able to thank you enough, Jo.
Kate then added that it would mean the world to her if the tattoo was in Rowling's handwriting.
Rowling, as is her wont, then responded to the fan's request perfectly:
The "patronus" charm in the Harry Potter books is a guardian or kindred spirit - usually an animal - who looks over wizards and shares a great affinity with them.
Well, that seems like a pretty apt tattoo...
